What Is Cyberbully?

To know what is cyberbully, please watching the following video.

Negative Thinking Makes It Easy To Be A Victim?

“Bullies must come from broken homes?”

“Must the victim be someone who is bad at dealing with people?

It was not necessarily! Those celebrities who with tens of thousands of followers have poor social skills? Of course not!! They are also often become the victims of cyberbullying too.

I think that those who are popular may face more cyberbullying than the general person. Since I often see some news on social media that some celebrities have ended their own life because of the irresponsible comments from the netizens. And today’s cyberbullying does not distinguish age, gender, colour, occupation, and whether he or she is a celebrity, a politician, a teacher, or a very ordinary person, also could be involved.

To Prevent Cyberbullying

Pay attention to what your child is doing online

Children can be involved in cyberbullying in many ways. A child can be a bully, victim, or witness bullying. Parents, teachers and other adults may not be aware of all the digital media and apps their children are using. The more digital platforms a child uses, the more exposure he has to potential cyberbullying.

🚧Warning signs a child was involved in cyberbullying 🚧

  • Device usage significantly increased or decreased, including texting.
  • Children show emotional reactions to what happens on the device (laughter, anger, discomfort).
  • Children show emotional reactions to what happens on the device (laughter, anger, discomfort).
  • Social media accounts were closed or new accounts appeared.
  • Children begin to avoid social situations, even those they used to enjoy.
  • Children become withdrawn, depressed, or lose interest in people and activities.

What to do when cyberbullying occurs?

Actions that adults should take are:

  1. Support the bullied child.
  2. Address the bullying behavior of the participants.
  3. Show the kids that cyberbullying is serious.
  • Caution — Explore possible causes and observe if the children are using the digital device with the above warning signals.
  • Conversation — Ask for understanding what is happening, how it started, and who is involved.
  • Documented — keep track of what happened and where it happened. If possible, take screenshots of harmful posts or content.
  • Reporting — If the student has cyberbullying, report it to the school. If your child is physically threatened or has committed a potential criminal or illegal act, report it to the police.
  • Support — Peers, mentors, and trusted adults can sometimes intervene publicly to positively influence the posting of negative or harmful content about children, and help bullied children and targets show your concern.

Bullying is not a reflection of the victim’s character, but rather a sign of the bully’s lack of character.

Best Place to Spend Time in INTI

Tan Sri Abdul Majid Library

Tan Sri Abdul Majid Library is the place that I’ve spent most of my time in INTI when I have no class. In fact, when I was in primary school or even secondary school, I didn’t like to go to the library very much because it is so boring. However, when I went to INTI, I became a “frequent guest” of the library!

Why I Became A “Frequent Guest” of The Library?

I admit that I’m not that hardworking student…and most of the time, the purpose of going to the library is not for reading or borrowing books, but for its environment and facilities.

Tan Sri Abdul Majid Library has three levels. However, the third level is not open to anyone, so I never went there before.

Introduction of The Levels

When you walk in to the library, your position is at the level 2 of the library. In front of the entrance, there has a stairway to the level 1 of the library.

Short video about the stairway’s looks: https://youtu.be/titZ9Mwdre8

Level 2 Facilities

I will stay on level 2 because its environment is quieter and it’s less likely to be disturbed. In this level, my favourite area is the net zone. It’s very convenient for me when I need to do something urgently, but I forgot to bring my laptop.

Level 1 Facilities

Besides that, level 1 also has other facilities, such as interactive room, viewing room, and also discussion room. There also has daily newspaper provided at level 1. In this level, I think the most interesting area is the chill out zone, because some of the games which provided at there is very interesting for me. Besides that, according to my friend who in the other course says that the environment of the interactive room is very comfortable, the students are sitting on the bean bag sofa and listening to the teacher.

Outside of Library

Book Chute

The book chute is to provide students to return the library materials. Book chute service available during library closure only.

What Do I Usually Do in The Library?

Usually, if I’ve brought my laptop, I will listening to music while completing my assignment. Sometimes, I will also see some movies or variety show when I was nothing to do. When the exam was near, I will also stay in the library to revise. However, please notice that the library will soon be full during the period.

Notice!

  • DON’T speak louder in the library.
  • NO food or drinks allowed in all areas.
  • Return library materials on time.
  • During exam week, please come earlier to have a good seat.
  • If you want to stay in the library for a few hours, kindly remember to bring your jacket, since sometimes the library is a bit cold.

Opening Hours

Monday to Friday 8:00 to 21:00

Saturday and Sunday Closed

Extension of Opening Hours

Since I didn’t live in hostel, usually I will not stay in the library for too late. However, according to my friend who live in hostel, she says that the library will extended the opening hours during the exam week. Generally, it will be extended to 24 hours. I also heard it for the first time. The updated opening hours can be found on the library website.
